Potential anti-inflammatory activity of the Tamarix aphylla essential oil

Aim : This study aimed to assess the anti-inflammatory activity and potential mechanisms of essential oil Tamarix aphylla (EOTA). Methods The oils were extracted from plant’s aerial parts using hydrodistillation analyzed through gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS). assessed for their effects well-established inflammation models, namely carrageenan-induced paw edema peritonitis. To evaluate antioxidant oil, measurements taken nitric oxide radical-scavenging lipid peroxidation. Results predominant components EOTA 6,10,14-Trimethyl-2-pentadecanone (20.2%), β-Ionone (20.1%), Dodecanoic acid (12.2%), trans-β-Caryophyllene (10%.1). found that significantly reduced edema, peritonitis, myeloperoxidase activity, NOx-peritoneal lavage concentration induced by carrageenan. Additionally, exhibited significant inhibition radical production triggered sodium nitroprusside. Furthermore, demonstrated ability prevent peroxidation Fe+2- or Fe+2 plus H2O2. Conclusion findings suggest possesses potentially linked its capacity.
